As we celebrate Black History Month at Houston Christian University, we take the opportunity to recognize and honor the significant contributions of African Americans to our university community. Today, we highlight the extraordinary leadership and commitment of Rev. Garry Blackmon. As the newly elected Chair of the Board of Trustees, Rev. Blackmon brings a wealth of experience and a lifelong commitment to cultivating a biblical worldview in higher education, the stewardship of the scriptures, and the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. His longstanding service to the Houston Christian University family, along with his work as a chaplain to the Houston Fire Department, his leadership with Promise Keepers, Inc., and his efforts to rebuild urban communities through "Serve the City," make him an outstanding Christian leader and community builder.
