Kaia was found lying on a road in Mississippi extremely ill with injuries to both eyes. She was taken to a local veterinarian to receive immediate medical attention, including a critical eye surgery that resulted in the removal of both of her eyes. Once she was healthy enough, Athens Animal Rescue organized a transport effort from Mississippi to Arizona to give Kaia a better opportunity to find a loving home. Under the care of aawlspca, Kaia was brought to a PetSmartCharities adoption event at the PetSmart Home Office in Phoenix. Her gentle demeanor immediately caught the attention of one of our associates, Kelly. Kelly was about to head back up to her desk from the event when a co-worker pointed out Kaia. “She was so calm and so sweet to every person and dog that she came across, even with all the commotion of the event going on,” Kelly said. “I just instantly fell in love with her.” Kelly adopted Kaia on the spot.
