Ali Abdullah Ayoub, former Syrian Minister of Defense and one of Assad’s most senior military commanders, oversaw some of the deadliest phases of the regime’s war against Syrian civilians.
As a senior general and later Defense Minister, Ayoub directed large-scale military operations involving indiscriminate bombardment, sieges, forced displacement, mass detention, and torture, contributing to the deaths of hundreds of thousands and the displacement of millions.
