His message is clear.
You cannot put all your ducks into sports anymore.
Five and six year olds are training. The portal changed the landscape. Butler County and other programs now have their arms wide open for older, more developed players, and that can take scholarships away from high school seniors.
If you are good, you are good.
But good today means how do you measure up nationally.
Grades matter. Character matters. Work ethic when nobody is watching matters.
Anybody can work hard when the coaches are watching.
