If you work around cars long enough, you learn that brake clean is basically magic in a can. ㅤ My team always keeps a few cans in our production trucks. ㅤ Not for brake rotors, but because it solves a bunch of problems you run into on automotive sets. ㅤ 1. Cleaning grease off prop cars ㅤ Even brand-new cars show up on set with oil residue, assembly grease, or grime in the wheel wells. ㅤ When we shoot suspension or wheel ads, we often lift the car so the camera can get right up into the wheel well. The problem is that area is usually filthy. ㅤ A quick hit of brake clean cuts through oil and grime fast, making the product look camera-ready. ㅤ 2. Fixing ugly shop floors ㅤ A lot of automotive shoots happen in real garages. And real garages usually have oil stains everywhere. ㅤ Sometimes that gritty look works for the project. Other times it’s distracting. ㅤ Brake clean lets us knock down the worst stains so the scene looks intentional instead of messy. ㅤ 3. Fast cleanup when time is tight ...
