Choosing to run 250 miles is not a decision you take lightly. To commit to a tremendous distance, there must be a deep-rooted “Why.” For Dave Odell, an avid ultra-distance runner and long-time friend of the rabbit family, he probably had more reasons not to run than actually committing. Being 55 and a survivor of ulcerative colitis, Dave not only wanted to run from Black Canyon City to Flagstaff, he wanted to do it in under 100 hours. Age, fear, and the possibility of failure were not deterrents: they were motivators.
