Continuing a long tradition of “career showers” in my family, the Barbie shower is my favorite one yet. And a perfect celebration at 35 weeks pregnant, especially since I never felt quite safe enough in this high-risk pregnancy to have anyone throw me a baby shower, especially after my last loss. But a BARBIE SHOWER let me celebrate the entire journey that being named a Barbie Role Model represents for me as both a woman navigating modern motherhood and a research astronaut…. painful IVF journey, high risk pregnancy and all. 🥹
