🇨🇦 Canadian Olympic bronze medalist Alysha Newman has been handed a 20-month ban by the Athletics Integrity Unit after accumulating three whereabouts failures within a 12-month period.
The decision announced today outlines the three failures as:
1️⃣ February 27, 2025 (Filing Failure): A doping control officer arrived at Newman’s declared address for her 8pm-9pm time slot. Newman wasn’t there, claiming she had misplaced her car key. The AIU confirmed the failure after she did not request an administrative review.
2️⃣ August 17, 2025 (Missed Test + Filing Failure): A DCO arrived at the same address for her 8am-9am slot and could not locate her. Newman provided no explanation at all
3️⃣ August 23, 2025 (Filing Failure): A DCO arrived at 8:30am and met Newman, who said she had to leave immediately to film a television gameshow.
