Aircraft hurtled through the sky in Hillsboro for the Oregon International Air Show Saturday, and a voice over the speakers let everyone know exactly what was going on.
But for aviation enthusiasts whose first language isn’t English, the show can be confusing. The call signs and acrobatics go unnamed, and they know little about the pilot in the cockpit. To help make the show more accessible for Spanish speaking Oregonians, the air show is offering live translation, making it the first to do so in the United States, according to Graciela Tiscareño-Sato, one of the Spanish announcers.
