(Part 2 / 3) Having grown up in a rural village himself, Mr. Abdoulaye is acutely aware of the challenges his students face accessing education. He laments the higher rate of drop-outs of girls, due to the entrenched gender inequality that exists in rural areas. He also cites the rise of gold panning in certain areas as a driver of boys dropping out hoping to get lucky with the dream of being able to afford a motorbike. But he sees motivating and encouraging students as his critical contribution to the future improvement of Burkina Faso, which he believes is dependent on a more highly educated youth that grows into the next generation of the country’s leaders. “Education is like the computer’s central processing unit of the country.
