This weekend, I had the privilege of speaking at the first annual Fiestas Patrias in downtown Colorado Springs. The event is a celebration of Mexico's Independence from Spain in 1810, and traditionally helps to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month here in the United States.
This was an incredibly special moment for myself, as this event was first imagined at a Thrive Colorado Springs meeting, which I currently serve as the interim executive director. Moni Hernandez put together a remarkable event for our residents, particularly those of Mexican descent. I look forward to this event continuing to gain traction in the future, as it is helping to build a city that champions events for all residents of our city.
