People take one look at us and think they’ve got us alllll figured out!
Not only is your weight the least interesting thing about you, it doesn’t tell me anything about your health status or your habits!
And assumptions like these lead to guilt and shame that keep us striving for thinness that only leads to continual weight gain, poorer medical care, and the avoidance of medical care due to all the stigma and weight discrimination!
Anti-fat bias starts from acknowledging that we have these thoughts and assumptions towards people in larger bodies. And then we need to actively fight against these assumptions to allow equity in care, and basic respect, for all people - regardless of their size!
