Out with a bang πŸŒ• Moon-watchers will love August because the month both begins and ends with full moons. The first full moon occurs on Aug. 1 and is not just any full moon, but a supermoon, which occurs when the Moon is at its closest point to Earth. Known as the Sturgeon Moon or Grain Moon, the full moon for this time of year also corresponds with the Hindu festival Raksha Bandhan, which celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. In the foreground, green foliage gradually becomes more visible. Credit: NASA/Ben Smegelsky #Artemis #FullMoon #SuperMoon #KennedySpaceCenter #NASA
