Richard Wiard (‘82) was inducted into the CIF Southern Section Hall of Fame on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. With five CIF-SS championships and two state championships, Coach Wiard is one of the most decorated coaches in the history of San Gabriel Valley athletics. He was named the CIF-SS Coach of the year four times (1999, 2003, 2005, 2013) and the CIF State Coach of the year once, in 2005, when he led the Lady Lancers to a 35-0 perfect season, culminating in the CIF-SS and State Championship. Coach Wiard has continued his legacy of excellence at La Salle College Preparatory H.S., where he is an Assistant Coach for his son, Scott.
