Social media is a tricky thing.
For people in creative fields, it can be frustrating when we pour our creative juices into something, only for the algorithm to not show it to the audience we desire. When this happens, intrusive thoughts creep in and we begin to question whether or not our work is good enough. The value of ones creativity cannot be measured by likes, comments, or follows. There are many people on this platform that do not have big numbers on social media. Yet they have beautiful work, get paid well for their work, and work with successful brands. Numbers on social media do not define success. Genuine relationships and connections are far more valuable than insights.
Creating for the algorithm yields to cookie cutter content, trying to replicate what someone else is doing, in hopes to achieve similar “success” on social media. True creativity pushes boundaries, expresses imagination, and doesn’t conform.
