Luis of
#WashU27 draws his inspiration to pursue higher education from a profound source—his mother’s courageous battle with cancer. Witnessing the dedication of the medical professionals who cared for his mother ignited a spark within Luis to make a difference.
Motivated by the desire to contribute meaningfully to healthcare and alleviate the burdens faced by families like his own, Luis became the first in his family to attend college. He wants to help others, particularly children, and he aspires to become a pediatric surgeon. He also credits The Taylor Family Center and the Kessler Scholars program for being crucial pillars of support.
As a first-generation Mexican-American, he embraces the responsibility of being the trailblazer in his family, breaking barriers and setting an inspiring precedent for future generations. Luis is a shining example of making the most of his first year, and he has a bright path forward.
