Today I won my
#defamation case against Nine, The Age, Nick McKenzie, Charlotte Grieve and Joel Tozer.
Justice Jackman of the Federal Court of
#Australia entered
#judgment in the sum of $550,000 against each of them in my favour, which is in excess of the statutory cap for
#damages for
#defamation.
This
#victory is a mark of the appalling conduct I suffered at the hands of these
#publishers. I’m grateful to the Federal
#Court of Australia for its efficiency and expertise which has led to this result.
I was in the fortunate position of having the means to hold these powerful
#media entities and their "
#journalists" to account, but in order to get to this point I had to win seven judgments over two years, in which the Court agreed I had been seriously defamed and there were no arguable defences.
The respondents’ unreasonable resistance at every step of this
#litigation and loss of these seven judgments caused unnecessary delays and costs and aggravated my harm. The Court described ...
