Today is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. It also marks the launch of 16 Days of Activism campaign against gender-based violence – an international initiative that calls for awareness and action.

Family violence can be hard to identify, both for a victim survivor, and those around them.

Intervening doesn’t mean rescuing. Instead:
- Listen to and believe what your loved one has to say
- Don’t judge
- Maintain regular contact
- Offer practical assistance like creating opportunities when they can speak freely or seek professional support
