A rehabilitated Andean condor was released back into the wild in Mendoza, Argentina, on November 3. The condor, named Angel by wildlife rehabilitators, was first rescued in September by the Fundacion Cullunche, who found evidence of poisoning by toxic baits, a local nonprofit said. Andean condors are endangered and principally threatened by the use of these poisons, the local nonprofit said. According to Scientific American, “Livestock owners who needlessly fear the imposing condors – which only eat carrion (not live prey) – attract the birds with dead sheep and other animals laced with powerful, illegal neurotoxin pesticides such as carbofuran and parathion.” This footage by Claudio Gutierrez shows the moment Angel is let out of its cage and takes to the skies. #Condor #Birds #Ndangered #EndangeredSpecies #AnimalRescue #AnimalLovers #Environment #Conservation #Wildlife
