We are honored to have had Guggenheim Fellow, best-selling author, @americanuniversity professor, and Semester at Sea alumna, Rachel Louise Snyder, speak at our 60th Anniversary event this past October, held at @ColoradoStateUniversity. Snyder, whose new memoir, "Women We Buried, Women We Burned" was recently featured in the Washington Post and New York Times Review of Books, spoke to the testament of a Semester at Sea voyage to foster belonging and provide opportunity. As a part of a student theatre group during her 1991 voyage, she connected with kids in orphanages and schools across language and cultural barriers by performing folktales.
