One thing I’ve learned since beginning my mental health journey in my early 20s is that the process isn’t linear. As life circumstances and body chemistry change, so can our diagnoses. We added a new acronym to my alphabet soup this week: ADHD. Plus the corresponding meds and coaching to figure out what all of this means. Maybe this med will work seamlessly with my current treatment. Maybe it won’t and my entire cocktail will need to change. I don’t know. It’s a lot. But it’s also not because I’ve learned over the years to trust myself when it comes to my mental health. (It also helps that I have had the BEST psychiatrist by my side for the last 10 years.) I’m 41, but I’m not too old for a new diagnosis. Or to discover something that maybe we missed a long time ago that I’ve spent the last two decades or more compensating for. You are never too old to advocate for yourself. You are never too old to live the life you deserve, to seek it and fight for it. . . . : . #mentalhealthaware...
