I've said it once and I'll say it again. I love me a day two race. I raced around the same time today as yesterday and stuck to the same morning routine because if it isn't broken, don't fix it. I felt ready to attack the day and was laser focused. One goal in mind, redemption.
I had a little more fire under me after yesterday and wanted to execute my race from start to finish. I stuck to my guns and stayed focused. Hit my splits zone after zone, run after run. I opened up a 3/4 lap lead after the ski. From there I kept my foot on the gas but in a much more controlled manner. This was mainly for fatigue management knowing I have two more hard efforts tomorrow.
I did not need to sell out or run a PR. I gamed the race and was strategic. Calculated. I'm much happier overall with my race and performance. This one felt good. Back-to-back DEKA MILE 18-24 World Champio...
