Let’s keep it simple: High-rep jumps won’t increase your power, they’ll just wear you out. When it comes to exercise, your programming really matters.
I approach programming with a focus on energy systems. Training for power? That’s your ATP-PCr system, kicking in for efforts lasting 0 to 10 seconds. So, if you do three sets of 10 box jumps, you’re working for 30 to 45 seconds, not truly training for power and putting yourself at risk of injury. You’re also doing exercises that won’t lead to adaptation, just sweat.
