1989 - Present, As the Studio Tour tram enters Stage 50, known as “the world’s only split-level soundstage,” it appears tranquil, with the crew taking a lunch break. Suddenly, the ground begins to tremble, creating a lifelike earthquake experience with a magnitude of 8.3 on the Richter scale. After the simulation, the entire attraction resets itself in just 15 seconds to prepare for the next tram. This earthquake-themed attraction, named “Earthquake: The Big One,” was constructed in 1988 and replaced the previous Tower of London set that occupied the same location. Stage 50 was purpose-built for this attraction and is not one of Universal’s regular soundstages.
