Evolution of a photographer ft. Ali Krieger.
I have said this a few times over the years and because we are honoring her today...
I went to one of my first Reign games in 2014 and sat in a particular spot just to see one of my favorite players on the away team for at least one half of the game. I took incredibly crappy photos but you have to start somewhere. She is always known to say: you can only control two things - your work ethic and attitude. From then on, I kept coming back, kept practicing, and starting in mid-2017, treated every opportunity like my last. Always be learning - my mantra.
The result?
Nearly a decade later, I can literally build a timeline of photos - an evolution of capturing one of my favorite players. This isn't a collection of perfect photos. It is a collection of growth and perseverance and self-belief. The cherry on top: getting to photograph her in the 2019 World Cup final and capturing her final game as NWSL champion.
