“Bird Song” was originally written by Robert Hunter as a tribute for Janis Joplin and was performed a few times after its debut in 1971 until 1974 when it experienced a 6+ year absence that lasted until 1980. This December show at the Civic Center in San Francisco marks one of thirteen performances of the tune in 1983.
