On Thursday 7 December, we hosted our third annual #LGBTIQA+ Town Hall: Keeping LGBTIQA+ Young People Safe. 🏳️‍🌈⁣ ⁣ This year’s event was held in Geelong and featured an expert panel of LGBTIQA+ community leaders including Queerspace, Transgender Victoria, Rainbow Local Government, LGBTIQ+ Justice Working Group and Rural Pride Australia.⁣ ⁣ Also on the panel were Victoria Police representatives Deputy Commissioner Neil Paterson and Acting Assistant Commissioner Sharon McKinnon. The Q&A session explored themes of safety, confidence and trust in Victoria Police, transparency and accountability, and community engagement with LGBTIQA+ young people.⁣ ⁣ LGBTIQA+ Town Hall events aim to strengthen the safety and wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ people and this year’s event was an opportunity to unite LGBTIQA+ young people, LGBTIQA+ community leaders and Victoria Police.⁣ ⁣ Thank you to our panellists, community members and staff who attended this year’s event.
