After an eight-year drought, the 1982 Auburn football team earned a bowl game bid. The Tigers would face Doug Flutie's Boston College Eagles in the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando, Florida.⠀ ⠀ Despite the score, the game wasn't nearly as close as you may think. Boston College scored a touchdown as time expired to put the final score at 33-26. Auburn would win their first bowl game under Pat Dye in just his second year as head coach.⠀ ⠀ This game was also the first instance in which Auburn wore bowl game patches on the jersey. As was common during this time, the bowl patches were worn on the shoulders, replacing the TV numbers.
