What was in this area before Lincoln Center was built? San Juan Hill was an ethnically diverse and largely working-class neighborhood that was established at the turn of the 20th century and existed until “urban renewal” projects displaced hundreds of its businesses and thousands of its residents in the 50s and 60s for redevelopment. Hear Alrene Yu, Archivist and our Director of Knowledge and Legacy, share some of the history of San Juan Hill, then check out the new digital hub “Legacies of San Juan Hill” to learn more. Created in collaboration with @centropr and @schomburgcenter, the hub explores the history, communities, and cultural legacy of San Juan Hill through essays, interviews, videos, an interactive map, and more! Thank you to the @snforg for their support. Visit LincolnCenter.org/SanJuanHill or our #LinkInBio.
