⚠️ LAKEWOOD, Washington. — Court filings released Friday provide new details about the death of a teenager in Lakewood who police said ran into a swamp and died while fleeing from a stolen Kia last week. The Pierce County Medical Examiner identified the teen as 16-year-old Nicholas Woody II. The teen’s official cause and manner of death are still pending as of Friday. Prosecutors filed charges against two teenagers – ages 14 and 17 – who were allegedly with Woody in the stolen Kia. According to court filings, Lakewood police attempted to stop the stolen Kia on Lakewood Drive Southwest around 10 p.m. on Dec. 2. The officers followed the Kia to a dead-end road near Lochburn Middle School when four males jumped out of the car and ran into marshlands, a probable cause affidavit states. “The water was cold and filled with large amounts of grass.
