Nobody wins alone.
After falling short in last year's Section 1 Dual Meet Tournament final four, Yorktown was determined to make it back and finish on top.
The expectations were high for the top-seeded Huskers entering this season, and they rose to the occasion. On Thursday night, they won their first Section 1 Division I Dual Meet Tournament title, besting Byram Hills/Briarcliff/Valhalla/Westlake, 48-23, in the semifinals, before following up with a 39-24 finals win over second-seeded Ossining.
"It takes a village," said Yorktown coach Jimmy Kaishian, who is a Husker alumnus. "From our youth program to our assistant coaches, to former coaches, and to the kids just really buying into what we've been trying to tell them ā really proud of these guys and I think this is a really special thing."
