Learning how to make DOMINICAN SANCOCHO 🇩🇴😍 godomrep
LaChefaGomez gave me a tour of Santiago de Los Caballeros — the second-largest city in the Dominican Republic. It’s known as Ciudad Corazon (heartland city), founded in 1495, and is one of DR’s cultural and industrial centers 🫶🏼
Other than exploring beautiful monuments, I got to visit La Chefa’s personal garden and visit the local food market! The best way of getting to know a country is through its people and food.
After getting all the ingredients, I learned how to make Dominican Sancocho, which is a stew with 7 different proteins, including:
-chicken
-hen
-smoked pork chop
-smoked pork ribs
-beef brisket
-longaniza (pork sausage)
-masa de cerdo (pork chunks)
+ a ton of root veggies, plantains, spices, and more 🍠🌽🍌 It’s one of the heartiest dishes I’ve ever tried and a symbol of Dominican culture featuring elements from Spaniard, Indigenous Taíno, and African heritage.
