For 50 years, hip-hop has been used as a vehicle to channel the voices of the people. An initiative launched by the UNCW Office of the Arts hopes to tap into the genre to help DCVPA students find their voices. Thanks to a $75,000 grant, seventh and eighth-grade students at D.C. Virgo Prep Academy are discovering their voices through hip-hop. This initiative lets students express themselves through music, poetry, and graffiti art.
