At 7 years old, Allyson Kafka wanted to participate in gymnastics, but with her Autism (which includes poor motor coordination, ADHD, and a speech disorder) her parents didn’t know if there were programs to meet her needs. A 12-year journey began when they found Chattooga Gymnastics and later, at Tampa Bay Rhythmics, Ally and her mom were able to start a program for other girls with special needs. Allyson has attended numerous HUGS competitions through the years in both Artistic and Rhythmic gymnastics – moving through the levels of Rhythmic HUGS and into the XCEL program. She is currently transitioning from an athlete to a Unified Partner and Coach in training, helping others achieve their goals and enjoy all the positive experiences she has enjoyed in gymnastics. She hopes to have her own program one day to continue giving individuals with special needs the same opportunity she was given. #AutisticPrideDay
