Aerial shots from game 1 of the Sox and Yankees on 9.14.23 at Fenway Park, which was the 2nd double header of the series. The Sox shut out the Yankees 5-0 on the back of 6 strong innings with 7ks from Houck. Whitlock and Martin tossed 3 shutout innings from the pen to lock down the victory. On the offensive side, with 2 outs in the 7th and down in the count 0-2, Rafaela put the Sox up 2-0 by hitting his 2nd career HR off Pesky Pole in right. Story followed it up w his 2nd HR of the season, a 3 run bomb to center. The big news of the day was not the game, instead it was the firing of Chaim Bloom, which was announced shortly before game time. The game was a makeup from the 2nd rainout of the series and the crowd was very thin for the 1:35 game. I’ve been to a lot of baseball games over the years, but the two makeup games this series were some of the lowest attended games I’ve ever witnessed.
