As we prepare for next month's special legislative session on crime, we think it's important to remind our policymakers that children don't need "tough on crime" policies or punishment. In addition to the support and encouragement of their communities, kids need the opportunity to learn and grow from their mistakes so that they can thrive at home, in school, and in their neighborhoods.
