Deering Estate staff participated in the audubonsociety 24th Christmas Bird Count (CBC), the nation’s longest-running community science bird project! Rangel Diaz, Deering Estate’s Recreation Manager, took part in the Kendall CBC on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023. Over the course of the day, 2,148 individual birds representing 51 species were tallied. Highlights for the day include Bonaparte’s Gull and Hermit Thrush, both uncommon visitors at the estate. Stay tuned!
