BMW has commenced the series production of both the new X2 and its electric counterpart, the iX2, at the Regensburg plant in Germany. This production launch has prompted the Regensburg facility to transition to a three-shift operation immediately, incorporating a night shift alongside the existing early and late shifts. BMW is now incorporating elements of its "iFactory" production strategy in Regensburg, making it the first automotive plant globally to implement an end-to-end digitalized and automated process for inspecting, machining, and marking painted vehicle surfaces. This innovative process is facilitated by AI-controlled robots in series production.
