#quilotoa crater really lived up to our expectations. It’s breathtaking for the entire hike!
Here are 6 things to know ⬇️
🏔️ This water filled caldera is part of the Andes Mtn range in South America—it’s 2 miles wide and 250 meters deep!
📍 From the capital city of Quito, Quilotoa is roughly 4 hours by car. Latacunga is the closest major town, where it’s possible to travel by bus (from Latacunga, we spent $3.50 usd pp and it took 2.5 hours 🚌).
🚐 The majority of travelers visit via day trip from Quito or Latacunga. Guided tours provide transportation, guides, and info about the local culture and history. Most tours we saw were ~ $50 pp. It’s a great option if you’re short on time!
