Did you know that lighthouses have been used for centuries to help guide ships and warn sailors of dangerous coastlines and hazards? The oldest surviving lighthouse in the US is the Boston Light, first lit in 1716. Lighthouses are an iconic part of maritime history. I highly recommend taking a lighthouse tour if you get the chance. Several along the New England coastline are open to the public.
