Summer 2020 the sports world shut down because of the shooting of Jacob Blake. This was the same week the Athletes Unlimited season started. Players discuss why the decision to play was important to them to play that weekend instead of sitting out as their counterparts in the WNBA and NBA chose to and why athletes using their voice and platform are now more important and influential as ever. Athletes Unlimited partnered with HighlightHER’s Ari Chambers for a 6-part digital series on diversity in softball. Ari interviews five AU players to discuss social issues and nuances of what it’s like to be a Black woman athlete in the predominantly white sport of softball. #HighlightHER #AthletesUnlimited
