Tel Aviv’s best (and vegan friendly! and gluten free! and kosher!) Ethiopian restaurant is a three-minute walk from my house in Tel Aviv’s Carmel Market, and that’s a joy unto itself.
But wait, there’s more: Fanta Prada, Balinjera’s owner and chef, has become more than a neighbor—I’m lucky to call her a dear friend. From the minute I moved into the neighborhood, Fanta—who in the past had successful careers as a lawyer and model—has shared not only her incredible culinary talents, but also the amazing story of Ethiopian Jews and their journey to Israel. She is one of the smartest, most generous people I know and you should give her and her restaurant a follow.
Try her insanely delicious injera bread; vegetarian and meat dishes; and her silan-sweetened techina, all served with her signature style, love, and generosity. We love you, Fanta! ethiopianfoodrestaurant ethiopianlifestyle1 via adeenasussman
