🎉GREAT NEWS! On Sunday, two Iranian journalists, Elaheh Mohammadi and Niloofar Hamedi, were temporarily released on bail after over 480 days in prison. The two journalists were arrested in September 2022, days after the killing of 22-year-old Mahsa Jina Amini by the “morality” police, which led to mass anti-government protests across Iran. ▪️Niloofar was arrested after publishing a viral photo of Amini’s parents hugging and crying at a hospital in Tehran, where their daughter passed away. ▪️Meanwhile, Elaheh was arrested after covering Amini’s funeral in her hometown of Saqqez, where protests began. Her report was titled “A Nation in Mourning.” Niloofar was sentenced to 13 years, and Elaheh to 12 years in prison. In May 2023, they received the 2023 UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize. While the news of their temporary release on bail is beyond great, authorities must free them unconditionally. 📌 JOURNALISM IS NOT A CRIME! #WomanLifeFreedom #MahsaAmini #JinaAmi...
