Freezing cold. Snow. Wind. Now, ice. The National Weather Service has issued an ice storm warning for the Portland area on Tuesday, warning that “significant icing” is expected. The warning is in effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday to 4 a.m. Wednesday. Forecasters are projecting up to 1 inch of snow in the metro area and a sheet of ice between two-tenths to half-an-inch thick. The sweeping ice storm warning stretches from near Kelso in Washington, west to Cannon Beach and Florence along the Oregon Coast, south to Cottage Grove in the Willamette Valley, and east along the Columbia River Gorge to Hood River. The ice storm warning follows winter storm and wind threats that have hammered the region since late Friday.
