For the second year in a row the target BHM Collection is 100% Black-Owned or created . Almost every item has a creator name and face attached. A woman (who was not Black) and I stood in the collection finding each creator online, following them and seeing what else they may have 🙌🏾 If you’re going to be a retailer with a Black History Month collection this is the bottom of what is acceptable (please see my BHM rules) There were some items that said, “Black Target Team Member Designed” and personally I didn’t care for that. Something about tapping Black employees for Black things feels off for me (without adding their @ and name as well) and I hope next year they will consider those tags .
