Another round of freezing rain is expected in the metro area by early afternoon Thursday, according to the National Weather Service’s Portland office.
Cold temperatures locked in the Columbia River Gorge and a change in wind directions is likely to bring another round of frozen precipitation by early afternoon and into early Friday. Light snow or freezing rain is also likely through the gorge much of the day. Many western Oregon schools closed for Thursday in anticipation of the freezing rain.
