The District 7 Berkeley City Council seat sat empty at Tuesday’s regular meeting after Rigel Robinson announced he was resigning from office and suspending his mayoral campaign last week. Robinson first announced his resignation in an opinion piece published in Berkeleyside on Jan. 9 and his resignation was effective Jan. 12.
