I set a goal for 2024 to walk over the abyss...
It's something that to this point had eluded me in my highlining career. We finished rigging this line with lineadevidaslackline in the late afternoon, and by the time it was my turn to sesh, the dark skies of rural Santander, Colombia engulfed us 🌌
My adrenaline surged as I slid out into the (invisible) abyss. Beneath me, darkness. In front of me, maybe 10 meters of line that I could see 👀
My first night walk, my first real
#highline, and the longest
#slackline (125m) I'd attempted... I managed 2 steps. But I was proud of that!
The next morning I was the first to go. This time I could see the hole beneath me. My brain scrambled as my adrenaline rushed once again. I focused on my breath 🫁 doing my best to regain control of my autonomic system. I managed around 20 steps on my best walk of the day, but my brain was still cautious. Every fall I caught the line. Not one single leash fall.
