Portland is slowly thawing, but more winter weather is on the way a little farther east. The National Weather Service has issued an ice storm warning for the upper Hood River Valley and the western and central Columbia River Gorge from 1 p.m. Saturday until 4 p.m. Sunday. Affected cities include Parkdale, Odell, Corbett, Rooster Rock, Multnomah Falls, Cascade Locks and Hood River in Oregon and North Bonneville, Stevenson, Carson and Underwood in Washington. The warning says up to an inch of snow and three-quarters of an inch of ice are expected with wind gusts as high 45 mph west of Cascade Locks. With ice still lingering from earlier in the week, the risk of downed trees and power lines increases. The Saturday weather forecast for Hood River starts off most cloudy and transitions to a 30% chance of freezing rain after 2 p.m. with a high of 30 degrees.
