It seems like a million years ago (2006) when Vidal and I met at a dinner at Redken founder, Paula Kent Meehan’s, home in Beverly Hills. During the evening, Vidal shared with me his story of being an orphan and how he was donating a few homes for Habitat for Humanity in Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina. He asked if I would travel to Louisiana to do press coverage. After being so inspired watching families open the doors to their new homes, we decided to team up to start a charity together to help hurricane victims. We called it Hairdressers Unlocking Hope and over a period of two years, we raised over $2MM from manufacturers and independent salons. With the hands and hearts of hairdressers, we built and donated 22 homes to those in need in Slidell, Louisiana.
